Artist Bio
Alexis receiver her Bachelors in Art and Design with a Painting emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado. She has shown her work in galleries in Colorado, Illinois, and Virginia, and is a recipient of the "Arts Alive!" grant from the Community Foundation of Weld County. Alexis's work explores the theme of destruction within forests and regrowth. To show hopefulness after devastation her paintings incorporate aspects of vegetation indicating signs of renewal in the harsh environment. Her paintings are framed with beetle kill pine wood, a repurposed product used from the devastation. Since our environment is continuously changing it impacts forests in many ways, showing that more is happening than we are of. Although destructions occur in nature, regrowth will happen, maybe not quickly but we can always look forward to a new beginning.
